Question: I have a question about the Maturidi Aqidah. A person told me that for the ignorant, believe that God is a light or a body in a place etc does not remove it from Islam, because he is an ignorant. It is true?

Allah the Almighty is free from body and bodily attributes; thus to have the belief that Allah has body or He is lodged in some place is not lawful. This belief is against the belief of Ahl Sunnah al-Jamah. If a person keeps such belief out of ignorance or doubt, he is misguided and astray, but he shall not be termed kafir or out of the fold of Islam; since the declaration of kufr is so severe, and this may be understood from the literal meaning of some texts of the Quran, though the Ulama have interpreted their meaning  in the light of the other texts of the Quran. As far as the belief is concerned that Allah is Noor then it is allowable since sometimes the word Noor was applied to Allah, but the condition is that its details should be assigned to Allah and any suitable meaning should be meant by it.
