And since the students are poor and recipients of zakaat, the organization that runs this madrassa collects zakaat from the general public to meet the general expenses of these poor students. What are the rules on consuming this zakaat money by 1) the admininstrators and teachers of this madrassa, for their salary? 2) eating food by these teachers and staff from the same zakaat money collected for the food expenses of these poor students 3) can the same zakaat money be used to cook food for the general public if say there is a public lecture at this madrassa or at a near by mosque?

We have some queries to be cleared kindly guide us meezan welfare foundation is social organisation running a "sadka fund" scheme in pune by virtue of which we are helping the downtrodden and needy section of the soceity the help is mainly in the form of monetary help ( money) we are helping in the field of social, medical as well as education. Now we are receiving application for educational help for ladies who want to do professional courses such as bca (bachelor of computer science), mba (master of business adminstation ) as well as bams, bums, mbbs & also d.ed . These all are girls or ladies whose parent canÂ’t affort huge fees for these course. The girls want to study and be self reliant. Now the main question is can we help them the sadka fund which we collect from the society as sadka. Kindly guide us in the light of quran and hadis.

- Q. One of my close friend has got very poor over a period of time because of not getting proper jobs. Recently I observed his condition to be very bad. One time he asked for a hand loan. Which I provided. He has too many loans on his shoulder. He ask if I could give him Zakaah Fund of mine as a help. Please advice. - Q. We had intended to purchase a flat about 10 years back and for the same we had given an amount of Rs.160000 (Rupees One Lac Sixty Thousand only) to the builder. Unfortunately, the building never got complete and the builder was not able to return us the money either. Now after 10 years or so, we were able to settle the matter through a shop which the builder gave to us in return of the money. We sold this shop and got back Rs.150000 (Rupees One Lac Fifty Thousand Only). My question is are we obliged to pay Zakat on this amount for the 10 years. If yes, please oblige by giving us the way of calculating the same.

- Q. I would like to know if I were to put $10,000 into an Islamic bank that they invest and pay you any profit earned on the investment (Similar to what the HSBC or Bank Islam do in Malaysia). Would I be liable to pay Zakat on this $10,000 or only on the profit that I would make at the end of the month or year and given to me by the bank if I left the $10,000 in the account.
