Title: about zakat on ornaments

Question: My father game some amount of gold and silver as amanah after few days he died. It was kept with my mother. And now after 18 years she distributed among her three sons. Tell who and how much zakah is to be paid if yes.

(Fatwa: 1170/931/D=10/1434) The amanah (trust) of your father kept with you became his inheritance after his death in which his wife, sons and daughters will have their share. But the zakah shall be wajib on each one when it is distributed and goes into the possession of each son and daughter. Hence in the question mentioned above, the zakah of last 18 years was not wajib on anyone. But from the time the mother has given the share of each one from that time one shall calculate one’s zakah if it reaches to the amount of nisab then after completing the year the zakah of 2.5% shall be paid after getting the price from the market.
