Title: I have been seperated from my husband since jan/2010 and have filed for Khulla on jun/19/2010. i will get my Khulla/divorce certificate in one week. i did not have any contact with him during the time of seperation. i have been staying with my parents since jan/2010, and my only activity has been going to work and coming straight home. my question is, do i still have to attend the iddat period from when i get the certificate?

    Bismillah hir-Rahman nir-Rahim !

    (Fatwa: 1346/1346/M=1431)

Khula’ takes place with mutual consent of the spouses. If you have requested your husband for khula’, then (it will take place) the day when he will accepts it and from that day you will have to start your iddah.
