Title: As salamu aleykum, I was wondering what Mullah Ali al-Qari says in his Sharh on Mishkat about the Hanafi position of lowering the finger when saying ''ill Allah'' in the Tashahhud. Does he say that the finger must be completely dropped onto the thigh (so that it touches the thigh) or must it slightly lowered (so that the finger is still in the air) ? Also what does other Hanafi scholars beside al-Qari say onto this matter ? Also can you tell us who the first person within the Hanafis was wo said that the finger must be raised at ''la ilaha'' and dropped at ''ill allah'' ? Was salaam

Mullah Ali Qari (رحمہ اللہ) has mentioned in Mirqat the view of Hanafi Ulama:

It means that the finger should be put down while saying illaAllah. The latter Ulama have approved it and it is mentioned in Shami and other books.

In Muheet, this saying was attributed to Hadhrat Imam Abu Hanifah and Imam Muhammad:
