Title: Recitation of holy Quran in Thajood By seeing the Quran

Question: Is it permissible to read the Quran by seeing in tahajjud and other nafl prayers? I have also seen Imams in Saudi reciting the holy Quran in tarawih by seeing it. Please guide me according to the Hanafi Fiqh.

(Fatwa: 45/45/M=01/1435) According to the Hanafi Fiqh, salah shall be invalid if one reads the qirah seeing in the holy Quran. Hence it is unlawful to recite the holy Quran during salah looking in the Quran, whether one holds the holy Quran in one’s hand or not. ویفسدھا قراءتہ من مصحف عند ابی حنیفۃ رحمہ اللہ تعالی، لہ ان حمل المصحف وتقلیب الاوراق والنظر فیہ عمل كثير وللصلاة عنه بد وعلى هدا لو كان موضوعاً بين يديه على رحل وهو لا يحمل ولا يقلب أو قرأ المكتوب في المحراب لا تفسد ولأن التلقن من المصحف تعلم ليس من أعمال الصلاة وهذا يوجب التسوية بين المحمول وغيره فتفسد بكل حال وهوالصحيح.
