Question: My question is that, can a person offer a prayer behind that person who is much more away from sunnah in looking wise. I am student in university, in our prayer room of department they make a imam who is available, what I do in this way, up to one year I followed any imam to imagine that when I go in Turkey where imam wear pant shirt and clean shave what will I do there, but I am not satisfied, only to make unity I offer prayer.

(Fatwa: 1197/D=73/K=1433) Such a person should be made imam who lives like pious persons and has beard as well as he is able to recite the holy Quran correctly as much needed. It is makrooh tahrimi for a person to lead salah who is clean shaved in the presence of a pious person. If you maintain Shariah appearance you should do imamah and if you are not so then also do not miss the jama’ah. If there is no other place available to offer salah behind pious imam then your salah shall be valid behind that imam with karahat.
