    Bismillah hir-Rahman nir-Rahim !

(Fatwa: 1011/609/L=1432) Hasad (jealousy) and Ghibta (envy) are two different words. In hasad, the Hasid (jealous) longs for the lack of a boon from his rival though he gets the boon or not, hasad is to dislike the good things of others. While in Ghibta, a man wishes to have boon like other without wishing for the lack of boon from other. قوله لا حسد وهو تمنى زوال نعمة احد و انتقالها إليه ... والمراد هنا الغبطة وهى تمنى حصول مثلها له (مرقاة: 1/268) Hasad is abhorrent while ghibta (envy) is good if the thing for which one wishes is praiseworthy. The remedy of hasad is that you should start praising your rival and behave with him in good manner sincerely. In-sha-Allah, this illness shall be cured.
