(Fatwa: 2528/2088=B/1429)

If the 14 year old girl is mature as per the Shariah i.e. she began her menses, then she will have right to conduct her matters herself, she will not need permission from her guardian, she can marry herself. But a Nikah performed with the consent of parents has more blessings. The marital life becomes prosperous and happy with the duas and compliments of parents.

Q. My question is to do with confidentiality in a marriage. I have had some problems in my marriage and for some 2 months i tried to resolve these with my husband but he refused to enagage in discussion and was sleeping in a seperate bedroom. My understanding was that I could then involve intermediaries to help resolve our problems which I did from both sides of the family. In order to get their help I needed to explain the problems we had, my husband was angry that I had explained our problems to others and said that we should deal with these ourselves, he felt personally attacked by his and my family. Q. I'm a Muslimah, it was and is my desire to serve Allah. A year back i joined university where I met a Shia Muslim classmate from Iran who had very twisted ideas about Islam but he tried and is still trying to search for the truth. my intuition told me that Allah had sent me here as a medium for him to attain hidayah, since my purpose of joining the course was solely to become capable of serving Islam.
