Title: clarification on name

Question: One of my friend names is Munaf, I want to know whether this name is allowed in Islam?

Bismillah hir-Rahman nir-Rahim !

(Fatwa: 339/339/M=1433) Munaf (مُناف) means height and greatness. This name is correct as per the dictionary. But Manaf (مَناف) is the name of an idol of jahiliya (age of ignorance). Hence it is better if you change your name and choose some other name.
