Rasool (messenger) is one who is given new Shariah and new divine book while a Nabi (prophet) is not granted new divine book but he preaches according to his previous messenger.
Note: There are some more definitions and differences between prophet and messenger which can be seen in Nibrah (the commentary of Sharh Aqaaid).
