Title: Working as a travel or Motor Insurance Agent or Adviser

Question: Is it permissible to work as a travel or motor insurance agent or advisor and get paid commission? I own a firm which is established to deal in tours & travels. In some countries one has to have a travel insurance for applying visas. Also as per the law of land one has to have motor insurance for owning a vehicle. In motor insurance there are 3 categories. (1) Third party insurance - You are protected against any claims made by the opponents. You will get nothing. (2) Comprehensive - You are protected against any claims made by opponents, insured for own damage and personal injuries as well. (3) Bumper to bumper - It covers your loss from front bumper to rear bumper. Kindly let me know if I could get involved as an agent or advisor in any or all above mentioned cases particularly.

Insurance is composed of interest and gambling. Working as an agent or advisor is helping in sin. However, if someone gets his vehicle insured due to legal compulsion then its ruling is different but to adopt it as a profession is not right. Working as an agent is also not free from being makrooh; hence one should avoid it and one should adopt pure and halal income source.
