    Bismillah hir-Rahman nir-Rahim !

    (Fatwa: 665/804/SN=09/1437)

While slaughtering, the animal should be laid down at its left side facing Qiblah and the slaughterer should put his right leg over its shoulder and slaughter it with sharp knife. It is necessary that at least any three of the four veins: windpipe (throat), food-tract (oesophagus) and the two jugular veins, are cut otherwise it shall not be halal.

Whereas while slaughtering the chicken etc the slaughterer should turn towards Qiblah as well as the animal should also face Qiblah. However, the butcher puts the chicken in the drum after slaughtering only for the reason that the soul departs soon as it departs easily when left loose in contrary to holding it. Hence there is no harm in it.
