    Title: Purchasing Expensive Attar

Question: I want to convey a message to your good self that I have some concern about purchasing expensive atar. Actually, I went to a place to buy atar and it was too expensive so I decided not to buy it. I could purchase it but eventually I thought it is against taqwa because buying expensive things is also not good apart from those we can buy some things for poor people and feed them as well. Please enlighten me in this matter I really appreciate your valuable time.

It is not against taqwa (piety) to buy expensive ittar to apply for good fragrance provided it is not intended for arrogance, show and publicity. But if you intend that you shall buy cheap ittar and donate the rest amount to the poor and needy ones then it is a deed of great reward. (Shami: 9/49, Kitab al-Hazar Wal Ibahat, pub. Zakaria)
