Question: Dear Sir, I am a student of science in the university of Kuopio, Finland. Its a small city and far away from the big cities of Finland. The problem here is to find Halal meat. We are ordering meat from Helsinki/Finland or from Sweden. Which is also not sure that the meat from these places is Halal, as i some time i can see blood inside the meat. In a nutshell, its very hard to find Halal meat here in Kuopio, Finland. What should i do in this situation? Can i eat any meat except PORK? I am sending you the following references which i got from my friend. He has only forbidden you dead meat and blood and the flesh of swine and that on which any other name has been invoked besides that of Allah but if one is forced by necessity without willful disobedience nor transgressing due limits then is he guiltless. For Allah is Oft-Forgiving Most Merciful. (Surah 2:173) He has only forbidden you what dies of itself, and blood, and flesh of swine, and that over which any other (name) than (that of) Allah has been invoked; but whoever is driven to necessity, not desiring, nor exceeding the limit, no sin shall be upon him; surely Allah is Forgiving, Merciful.(Surah Baqarah 2, ayah 173). And eat not of that whereon Allah's name hath not been mentioned, for lo! it is abomination. Lo! the devils do inspire their minions to dispute with you. But if ye obey them, ye will be in truth idolaters (Surah Al Anam 6:121). Here is an Ayah from Quran which says 2 things to muslims regarding people of scriptures (Jews and Christains): [5:5] Today, all good food is made lawful for you. The food of the people of the scripture is lawful for you, [and your food is lawful for them]*. Also, you may marry the chaste women among the believers, as well as the chaste women among the followers of previous scripture, provided you pay them their due dowries. You shall maintain chastity, not committing adultery, nor taking secret lovers. Anyone who rejects faith, all his work will be in vain, and in the Hereafter he will be with the losers. I shall be very thankful to you for that. JazakAllah.

In the question mentioned above, if you avoid eating meat until you are sure that the meat is halal, it is better. The Quranic verse which your friend has sent you means that if someone is dying and there is no other way except using Haram stuff, in this case of exigency one can use haram stuff but only as much as necessary. He will not get the sin of using haram thing. It is obvious that you do not fulfil the conditions of compulsion and exigency; hence this ruling is not meant for you.
