Title: I have a question regarding Isaal-e-Sawab. Suppose, I have recited Surat Ikhlas and it was my Niyaah to send the rewards of recitations to the Rooh/soul of my father alone. Another time, I have recited Surat Ikhlas and my Niyaah was sending the rewards to all dead Muslims till now. In first case, only to my father and in 2nd case, to all dead muslims died till now. I would like to know, will my father get less rewards in 2nd case or all the dead muslims will get same rewards like in the 1st case where only one person (my father) is mentioned?

The views of Ulama are different about the second condition. One of the opinions is that the reward which is conveyed to the dead is distributed among them. In this case, your father will get less reward. While, the second opinion is that every dead is given full reward. The first opinion is based on justice while the second opinion is based on mercy. Allah?s treasures are inexhaustible; therefore we can expect from Him that he will give full reward to each. But, one should convey the rewards to his near and dear ones specially.
