Title: question regarding doing hifz

Question: (1) Is it compulsory to completely learn the holy Quran once you start Hifz i.e. someone stops learning after 10 para because it was getting difficult to memorize further. (2) Someone who forgets some portion of memorized Quran, what is punishment for him in hereafter?

Bismillah hir-Rahman nir-Rahim !

(Fatwa: 1575/1060/H=1433) (1) It is not wajib. However one should not let this great blessing slip off one’s hands and should continue with enthusiasm then it will cause blessings. (2) It is hoped that in such case he shall not be sinful. (3) Almighty Allah knows the best about the punishment of the hereafter. One should hope that Allah would forgive; however it is pure justice if one is punished as per his guilt.

Q. Alhamdullillah I try to do one para daur daily (in about an hour) and try to finish it again in my salaah. To learn the daur I first read the first 2 pages from the Quraan then I recite it by heart, I continue like this till I have completed the whole para. Then if my mind does not feel too tired, I read the whole para again from memory, thereafter I do my sabak daur. This is the method that I have devised but I wanted to know the proper method of learning daur as Huffaz do in the Madaaris.
