Almighty Allah says in the holy Quran:
This ayat includes both who are clean from hadas-e-asghar (minor impurity) and hadas-e-akbar (major impurity). Also it is mentioned in hadith that Hadhrat Hakim ibn Hizam (رضى الله تعالى عنه) narrated: The holy Prophet Muhammad (صلى الله عليه وسلم) sent me towards Yemen and said:
Hadhrat Abdullah ibn Umar (رضى الله تعالى عنه) narrates that the holy Prophet Muhammad (صلى الله عليه وسلم) said:
In both these hadiths, the word of Tahir (clean) includes both taharah sughra (general state of cleanness) and taharah kubra (wudhu). Another hadith says:
In the light of these marfu hadiths, Hadhrat Imam Malik, Hadhrat Imam Abu Hanifa, Hadhrat Imam Shafi’i, and most of the scholar of Fiqh (رحمهم الله) have ruled that it is necessary to be pak (clean) from both types of impurities for touching the holy Quran.
