Title: Does fast breaks if one undergoes kidney dialysis during fasting

Question: The patients of kidney failure undergo dialysis on regular basis to survive. During dialysis the patient blood is cleared from impurities and toxins by passing it through a machine. During this process nothing is introduced into the body by any of the natural orifices/openings.

Fast does not break if one undergoes dialysis during fasting as in dialysis the medicine does not reach the stomach or brain through original orifices or directly, rather the blood of veins is extracted out by machine and filtered and entered again in the body through the veins. However, fast does not break if blood is extracted or entered through the veins.

أما ما وصل إلى الجوف أو إلى الدماغ عن غير المخارق الأصلية بأن داوى الجائفة والأمة فإن داواها بدواء يابس لا يفسد ؛ لأنه لم يصل إلى الجوف ولا إلى الدماغ ، ولو علم أنه وصل يفسد في قول أبي حنيفة ، وإن داواها بدواءٍ رطب يفسد عنده وعنهما لا يفسدهما ، اعتبر المخارق الأصلية ؛ لأن الوصول من المخارق الأصلية متيقن به ، ومن غيرها مشكوك فيه ، فلا يحكم بالفساد (بدائع الصنائع 2:243، ط: مكتبة زكريا ديوبند)، لو أوصل الدواء إلى داخل الساق أو غرز فيه سكيناً أو غيرها فوصلت مخه لم يفطر بلا خلاف؛ لأنه لا يعد عضواً مجوفاً (شرح المهذب للنووي 5: 314).
