Title: Aqeeqa Meat

Question: Some people say that while performing aqiqah of a child the parents should not eat the meat of the slaughtered animal unless meat of some other animal is mixed while cooking. How far is this true? Please reply in the light of Quran and Sunnah.

(Fatwa: 1137/1082/N=9/1434) It is wrong. The parents, grandfather and grandmother of the child etc may eat the meat of aqiqah. It is mentioned in Fatawa Darul Uloom Deoband (15:625) that as per the Hanafi Fiqh the meat of aqiqah carries the same ruling as of qurbani. As the meat of qurbani is consumed by all the family members and relatives in the same way they may eat aqiqah meat. It is alright for mother, father, grandfather and grandmother and others to eat it.
