Title: Kaffaaraah for 2 Months Fasts

Question: A Muslim man who is 32 years old said that if he gets selected for a particular university to do a job, he will fast 2 months consecutively to thank Allah. He said this in the year 2009. Then he cleared the interview and so on and got selected in 2009 itself. However, till now, he has not been able to fast because he is in one of the hottest places on earth (JAZAN - KSA), where the days are very long and the temperature is high throughout the year. The question is: is there any expiation (Kaffarah) which this man can give instead of fasting two months, because fasting 2 months is very difficult for him because of very high temperature in Jazan, KSA? May Allah reward you.

In the question mentioned above, it is mandatory for the person to keep the fast of two months consecutively and it is not enough to pay the fidyah. The ruling of fidyah is for such an old man who is too weak to keep the fast as well as he does not hope to restore his energy till his death. Though the said person is residing in hot country but it is not necessary to fulfill it in the same country, it is possible for him to come to India and keep the fast. Moreover, it is not difficult to observe fast in winter season when the days are short.
