Title: I would like to ask can we do NIKAH and VALIMA same day.(i.e Nikah at Asr and followed by VALIMA)? Or we need to do Nikah first and the next day we have to do VALIMA? Here lot of people are doing this so.

Question: Assalam Alaikum wa rahamthullahi barkatahu, Harzat, i am living in Bangalore. I would like to ask can we do NIKAH and VALIMA same day.(i.e Nikah at Asr and followed by VALIMA)? Or we need to do Nikah first and the next day we have to do VALIMA? Here lot of people are doing this so I would like to know in eye of Hadith on this. Please update me at the earliest.

Walima (marriage feast) (should be held after wedding ceremony (when husband meets his wife and spends sometime with her):

و ولیمة العرس سنة و فیھا مثوبة عظیمة و ھي اذا بنی الرجل بامرأتہ (عالمگیري، 5/343)

But, if anyone performs walima before meeting the wife, then also according to some scholars the sunnah of walimah will be rendered:

و قیل عند العقد الخ (مرقاة، 6/250، امدادیہ، پاکستان)
