    Title: Usage of Interest Amount on in laws and close friends

    Question: Can we use the interest money on the medical expenses and education purpose of in-laws and close friends, even if they are from good family but their current financial condition is bad and not enough to bear these kinds of expenses?

    (Fatwa: 334/329/N=04/1437) If they do not own money equal to nisab except actual requisites i.e. they are poor then you may help them with the interest money received from the bank. However you should not make intention of reward while giving this money. Also do not give him such an amount at one time that makes him owner of nisab. They shall have full right to utilize the amount after they receive it from you in their needs or wherever they wish. And if they are not poor as per the definition of Shariah then it shall not be lawful to give them interest money as this amount is only the right of poor and needy ones.
