Title: Ruling on Medical Insurance

Question: In islam medical insurance is halal or haram? I live in Tanzania n here medical is expensive. I want medical insurance for me and my family. I want to know it is halal or not.

Bismillah hir-Rahman nir-Rahim !

(Fatwa: 181/106/SN=2/1439)

The prevalent Medical Insurance contains interest, gambling etc which are unlawful as per the Holy Quran and Hadith. According to Shariah, it is not lawful for a Muslim to take Medical Policy. Thus whatsoever you could arrange for your treatment legally do it and do not look towards insurance.
