    Title: Innovations

Question: Please enlighten about ‘Rasm-e-Chaharum’ 15th day and 40th day which is widely celebrated in Kashmir Valley even by those who claim themselves as ‘Deobandi’. Is collective Fatiha Khawani at graveyard or at home on a particular day allowed or an innovation and cultural influence?

    Answer ID: 42797

    Bismillah hir-Rahman nir-Rahim !

(Fatwa: 1744/1744/M=1433) It is bid’ah to celebrate Rasm Chaharum, 15th Day and 40th Day etc and doing fatiha khawani with the specification of day and date near the grave or at home collectively. All these and other customs have no base in Shariah; therefore, one should avoid these practices.
