Title: Inheritance

Question: Please let me know if I can give all my properties to my wife and younger son, though I have another son also. Please reply. The elder son does not support me in my day to day living and hence this decision.

Bismillah hir-Rahman nir-Rahim !

(Fatwa: 220/192/N=1434) According to Shariah, it is not correct to deprive other heirs by giving it only to wife and one son due to reason mentioned therein the question or whatsoever the reason may be. It is injustice and sin. You shall be accountable in the hereafter in case you do so: قال رسول الله صلى الله عليه وسلم في حديث النعمان بن بشير رضي الله عنهما: فاتقوا الله واعدلو بين أولادكم’ ..... وفي رواية أنه قال: لا أشهد على جور (مشكوة شريف ص 261 بحواله صحيحين) و قال صلى الله عليه وسلم: من قطع ميراث وارثه قطع الله ميراثه من الجنة يوم القيامة (مشكوة شريف ص 266 بحواله سنن ابن ماجه وشعب الإيمان). Hence you must avoid taking such step.
