Question: A woman recieved a property as meher from her deceased husband.so the question is can she gift it to any of her 4 children or her grand children when she is alive or is it necessary to distribute them as per the sharia even when she is alive

(Fatwa: 689/577/B=1432) The woman should distribute the property among her four children equally and she should give their share in their possession. This is the ruling for one who is distributing his/her property in his/her lifetime, as it is mentioned in hadith: سووا بين أولادكم فى العطية . What one gives to his children in his lifetime is gift and donation, and one is asked to gift equally to both boys and girls.
