Bismillah hir-Rahman nir-Rahim !

(Fatwa: 1715/1715/M=1433) If the chickens come from such an area where most of the population belongs to kuffar or such Ahl Kitab (People of Book) who do not slaughter as per the Shariah then it is not enough to write halal on the zabiha [slaughtered animal]. If it is known surely that it has been slaughtered as per the Shariah then it shall be halal; otherwise one should avoid eating it. But if it comes from Muslim area then it can be consumed.

Q. Salam. I am a pakistani residing in Virginia, USA. The meat they call Halal over there means, that it is slaughtered the right way with cutting the jugular vein by the machine (and not cutting it all the way) however "Bismillah Allahu Akhbar" is not said by a specific person. They put it on the recording. This is the only type of Halal meat available over there. Q. As you aware that there is lot of resturant,hotels etc who served chiken & mutton dishes,claiming that they are using HALAL chicken or Mutton. Just take an example,,KFC is world famous reataurant,some branches in delhi & other metro cities,who usually serve chicken dishes,,once,I visited the restaurant in Cannaught Place.
