Question: Please read below matter and give Islamic view (fatwa) about this which is confusing common people and arguments going on all over Kerala between various groups. Kerala's Kanthapuram AP Aboobaker Moulvi (who introduces himself as Sheikh Aboobacker among Arabs) and the Samastha Kerala Jamiyathul Ulema (AP faction) have been moving forward with their mission to build the largest mosque in India to preserve the Prophet's hair. However, E.K Sunni leaders alleged that the hair with Kanthapuram is fake and he will be cheating people showing it in the mosque as a blessed exhibit. Dr Ahmed Qasraji of Abu Dhabi handed over the hair to Kanthapuram Musliyar at a function held at the Markaz (Kozhikode, Kerala), centre of the Samastha AP group, during the Milad-e Sharif ceremony in 2011. Kanthapuram then announced that a huge mosque, namely Shaare Mubarak Grand Masjid, would be constructed in the Kozhikode district to preserve the hair, spending a sum of IRS 40 crores which would be collected from people through contributions. Sanad (the list of persons who passed the hair over generations, by which it can be known how the hair reached Qasraji) of the hair also was not clear. Is this AP Sunni - Samastha a deviant sect with all their such belief?

Bismillah hir-Rahman nir-Rahim !

(Fatwa: 1131/B=178/TB=1433) When no definite and absolute chain of the Prophet's holy hair reaches upto the holy Prophet Muhammad (صلى الله عليه وسلم) then it is befooling and deceiving the people by organizing its visit and announcing to build a grand memorial mosque worth 40 crore rupees. It is to earn money with the pretence of the visit of this holy hair. These are the major signs of being deviant from righteous path. May Allah take them away from bid’ah and misguidance and make them follow the holy Quran and the sunnah. Amen!
